Ethics & Policies

JIEGG·Editorial Office

Publication Ethics Policy

As a global open-access publisher, Macao Scientific Publishers is committed to promoting best practices in academia and upholding integrity across all publishing activities. All our publishing efforts are guided by the following core ethical principles:
  • Authors and Contributors: All authors and co-authors must meet established authorship criteria and ensure proper credit is assigned within their manuscripts. Authors are encouraged to clearly outline their specific contributions to the work.
  • Originality: Authors must confirm that the submitted manuscript is their original work. It must not have been previously published, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Any inclusion of others’ work or text requires appropriate citation or quotation.
  • Data Access and Citation: Authors may be requested to provide raw data related to their paper for editorial review and should be prepared to make such data publicly accessible. Data must be cited with the same rigor as articles, books, or online sources, and data citations must be included in the reference list.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Authors must properly acknowledge any contributions from others within the manuscript.
  • Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: All submissions must include full disclosure of any relationships that could be perceived as potential conflicts of interest.
  • Reporting Standards: Authors of original research papers must accurately describe their work and objectively discuss its significance.
  • Authors’ Ethical Responsibility: Authors are accountable for all aspects of their work, including ensuring full access to data, data integrity, and the accuracy of analyses. They must ensure that any issues regarding the accuracy or completeness of the work are properly investigated and resolved.
  • Policy on Allegations of Research Misconduct: Reports of research misconduct may involve either published articles or manuscripts under peer review.
  • Corrections and Retractions: If significant inaccuracies, misleading statements, or misrepresented findings are identified in published content, corrections must be made promptly and prominently. In cases where an item is proven fraudulent following proper investigation, it will be retracted.
  • Advertising Policy: All advertisements are subject to approval by the publisher or editorial team.

Editorial Policy

The editorial office of our journal is structured similarly to those of many other academic journals. Comprising a team of experienced professionals—including the Editor-in-Chief, editorial assistants, software specialists, and administrative coordinators—it works to deliver seamless services to authors and reviewers. Its responsibilities include:

  • Managing the peer review process to ensure manuscripts progress smoothly through peer review. This involves providing reviewers with all necessary information to ensure authors receive feedback that enhances their manuscript quality.
  • Compiling issues to ensure they are delivered on time and meet the highest standards.
  • Editing, proofreading, and reformatting manuscripts to ensure they are finalized to a high quality and comply with the journal’s style guidelines.
  • Assisting with submissions and handling inquiries and issues.

Our editorial office responds swiftly to online trends. Staff regularly conduct data analysis on citation levels, usage metrics, and author submission behaviors to identify content that can expand the readership, while balancing commercial objectives with editorial integrity, direction, and policies.

Authorship and Contributorship

Authors’ Responsibilities
Authors of each manuscript must confirm the following:
  • The manuscript has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere;
  • They have made significant contributions to the work and approved the final version of the manuscript;
  • Their work adheres to ethical standards;
  • They are accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that any questions regarding the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are properly investigated and resolved;
  • They have obtained all necessary permissions to publish any figures or tables in the manuscript, and agree to pay applicable Article Processing Charges (APC).
Authorship Criteria
We require authors to follow the criteria for defining authorship by:
  • Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work;
  • Drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content;
  • Final approval of the version to be published;
  • Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that any questions regarding the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are properly investigated and resolved.

Activities that, on their own (without additional contributions), do not qualify someone as an author include securing funding; providing general supervision of a research group or routine administrative support; and offering writing assistance, technical editing, language editing, or proofreading.

Author Contributions
Author contributions describe each author’s contributions to the manuscript, presented as follows:
  •  Conception and design:
  • Administrative support:
  • Provision of study materials or patients:
  • Data collection and compilation:
  • Data analysis and interpretation:
  • Manuscript writing: All authors
  • Final approval of the manuscript: All authors
Changes to Authorship or Contributorship
If there are any changes to authorship and/or contributorship after the initial submission, approval from all authors must be provided. Any changes must be explained to the editors. Editors may request any author/contributor to confirm their agreement with the changes.
