2. Acceptable Article Types

This journal accepts manuscripts in the following format types:

  • Review: Provide comprehensive, critical, and synthesizing overviews of rapidly evolving or established research fields within microbiology and virology. Articles should evaluate current knowledge, integrate findings from diverse studies, identify methodological trends, and propose future research directions. Topics may span microbial biochemistry, evolution, biodiversity, host-pathogen interactions, technological applications, or theoretical models. The aim is to consolidate understanding and stimulate scholarly discussion and new investigations.
  • Research Article: Present original and significant findings from empirical investigations across all domains of microbiology. Articles should demonstrate methodological rigor, robust experimental design, and clear ethical standards. Submissions may cover diverse areas including microbial genetics, molecular and cell biology, physiology, pathogenesis, environmental ecology, biotechnology, and plant-microbe interactions. The research must represent a substantial advance in knowledge, with results presented clearly and implications for the field discussed.
  • Editorial: Provide perspectives, insights, and commentary from the editorial team or invited experts on issues of broad relevance to the field of microbiology. Editorials may address emerging research themes, cross-disciplinary implications, methodological debates, or the strategic direction of the journal. Typically concise and authoritative, they aim to contextualize current developments, highlight key contributions within an issue, and stimulate scholarly reflection and discussion. Editorials are usually commissioned by the Editors and are not subject to external peer review.
  • Short Communications: Report concise, timely, and focused findings of significant interest to the microbiology community. This format is suitable for preliminary results, novel methodological notes, brief case reports of high impact, or observations that warrant rapid dissemination but do not yet constitute a full-length article. Submissions must maintain high scientific rigor, clarity, and ethical standards, with clearly stated implications for ongoing research or practice.
  • Commentary: Offer expert perspectives, insightful analysis, or thought-provoking discussion on contemporary issues, emerging trends, policy implications, or methodological debates in microbiology. Commentaries are typically focused on a specific topic, such as the interpretation of a groundbreaking study, the direction of a sub-field, or the societal impact of microbial research. While often solicited by the Editors, unsolicited submissions are also considered; they should be concise, authoritative, and designed to foster academic dialogue.

3. The Scope of the Journal

  • The journal publishes research on prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms such as yeasts, fungi, bacteria, archaea, and protozoa, as well as on interactions between pathogenic microorganisms and their environments or hosts. It focuses in particular on genetics; molecular and cell biology; metabolism and physiology; signal transduction and development; biotechnology; phytopathology; and environmental microbiology and ecology.

  • The journal also considers research and review articles dealing with biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, physiology, pathogenicity, biodiversity, biotechnology, evolution, and genetics of microorganisms and viruses. It also covers plant-microbe interactions, and environmental and theoretical microbiology

4. The Word Count of the Paper

  • The word count of the paper should be between 3000 and 8000 words. If necessary, it can be more than 8000 words, but it should not be less than 3000 words.
